Staying Curious
In this video we ask Chris and Dan what they see as the most important attitudes for a creative visual thinker to have. Taking on their advice to feed your curiosity, give yourself time to follow your nose and pursue whatever random thing catches your interest. (If you’re wondering where to start, try browsing an eclectic site like The Public Domain Review and see where it leads you.) As you go about this adventure, make a visual note of ideas, theories, metaphors or facts that intrigue you simply for their own sake. Think of this as a creatively enriching process. You’re building a sourcebook. After all you never know when the reproductive life of sea horses or the 17th-century mania for tulips might trigger an idea or provide a rich analogy.
